I currently teach at five different elementary schools in Orlando, FL. Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) offers free Orchestra classes for 4th and 5th grade students, along with a limited budget to go towards classroom supplies, musical instruments and equipment. Since two of my schools are considered Title 1, many students cannot afford their own instruments. Students have a chance to borrow an instrument from our program at a discounted price, but unfortunately we are low on instruments this year. Many instruments purchased in previous years are either in need of repair, or they are simply not worth fixing. The instruments in most demand are small- to medium-sized violins, including protective cases.
