Students will work collaboratively to create, problem-solve, and think outside the box using these hands on materials. They will learn through experimentation, trying new ideas, and will be encouraged to work through challenges to come up with solutions. My students will be able to explore the world around them through experimentation and imagination. With these generous donations, students will have the resources needed to see their ideas materialize, creating an exciting classroom environment where learning is engaging and students will thrive on challenges that they are presented with. All materials listed below have been chosen because they have been designed to aid in the teaching of science, technology, engineering, and math topics. The K'nex sets, Legos, Wikki Stix, blocks, and Tinker Toys will all be used by the students to construct real world models, reflecting the changing world they live in. They appeal equally to boys and girls and enhance learning through hands-on kinesthetic involvement. The STEM book includes 150 project labs, giving students guidelines, suggestions, and providing rubrics for feedback. Students are encouraged to view the guidelines, but use their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to defeat the tasks. I can't wait to get started!
