My students are excited about becoming better readers this year! Our number one priority is to ensure that students develop a love of reading and remain enthusiastic readers beyond the classroom. However, our classroom library can't always keep up with growing readers' interests. As students read several books in a favorite series, they gain familiarity with characters, story structures, and literary elements that allow them to make gains in their reading comprehension. The Babymouse, Dragonbreath, Squish and Lunch Lady series are high-interest books, keeping students focused and allowing them to develop an understanding of how reading for pleasure should feel. These humorous, graphic novel-style books appeal to both fluent and struggling readers, making them a sought-after addition to the classroom library!
