My students are Special Education kindergarten/first/second graders in a poor, urban city in Washington. They come from backgrounds where the opportunities are less and the growing up is fast. Moreover, they all have a disability that makes their life more challenging than others. However, they strive to learn every day in our classroom. Especially when the students are set up for success, with access to quality materials and an enthusiastic teacher, they reach goals they never knew they could reach! These students are interested in math, science, reading, writing, history, life and the world around them. They have unique personalities, are funny, serious, dedicated, strong and determined students. They need guidance and love, and especially people they can count on to believe in them, so that they may recognize the power they have within themselves!
