Our students live in a very poor area and many struggle to get meals outside of school. They have joined NJROTC to better themselves and to compete against other schools. The other schools are able to compete in matching uniforms and many of our students do not have the extra money to buy uniforms, so we do not have uniforms for some of our events. These shorts will allow the students to exercise in comfort (many of them wear jeans when we run) and to look like a team. Their appearance will serve to improve their self-esteem and their desire to continue to be involved with our after-school programs.
