In the heart of Washington, DC, my students represent the diversity and resiliency that have always made our country great. Within a school that is approximately 52% Latino and 42% Black, my students learn about acceptance and tolerance both from the content in their classes and from one another in our richly diverse community. 100% of the student body at my Title I school qualify for free and reduced price lunch services. My students show me every day that, despite the significant challenges they may face, each of them has the capacity to question, challenge and change the world. With your support and investment, my students can enter middle school confident that they are fully prepared to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally, with the knowledge that they have access to all of the resources and support that they need, and more importantly, that they deserve.
