Frederick Douglass once said, "It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men", and our educational system lacks the resources to build strong children. In the lower income sectors of our country, much like our city, we're figuratively and literally leaving children behind. We must, as a community, put forth the effort to build strong children. My students are at a stage in their development where a foundation of educational efficacy can be built, fostered, and, if necessary, repaired. We mustn't wait until our children are broken. We must build, and we must build today. The materials selected are a variety of books on the students reading level. They're fun, informative books that I've noticed the children enjoy whenever we read together. Unfortunately, our school lacks an accessible library, and your donation will be the foundation for our current students and beyond.
