The band program is full of very talented musicians that have been forced to play on unacceptable and unplayable instruments. These students deserve to play on the best possible instruments, and unfortunately what they currently have has been neglected for years. NHS is anticipating tremendous growth in the next few years, and the band program will need more instruments to fill our ensembles and the needs of the students. As the director of this amazing program, it is my mission to expose these students to as many performing opportunities as possible. Unfortunately, the status of our instruments will not allow us to do so. Our percussion group travels to world championships in Dayton, Ohio and the purchase of new microphones, drumsticks, and mallets will allow us to be competitive with the other programs that are able to fund these items. Our band room has a severe shortage of storage. Our music stand carts are extremely old and do not function. The new stand carts would allow us to replenish the poorly conditioned current carts.
