I teach at a Title I school in a low-income neighborhood and many of my students are learning English as a second language. Many of them are special education students as well. Their parents value the arts but they work very long hours, so the students often do not have access to high-quality artistic experiences outside of school. My classroom is a positive, challenging, and safe environment in which students learn to express themselves through music. Despite any hardships my students experience outside of school, they work so hard to develop music literacy skills with smiles on their faces. I am so inspired by their passion for performing and enthusiasm for learning.

About my class
