I am seeking funding for engaging and meaningful instructional resources to teach and reinforce the English language. These resources include the following: 1). Interactive Daily Sentence Editing and Math Word Problems CD's: The editing and math set will be used on our Smartboard to teach students important skills in grammar, punctuation, and spelling - along with solving math word problems. 2). Pete the Cat Language Arts and Math Workbooks: These workbooks will be used by students to practice essential language arts skills such as consonant and vowel sounds, blends, plurals, key details and main idea. They will also be practicing key math skills such as counting, comparing, addition and subtraction, word problems, whole numbers, place value, measuring, and more. 3). Digging up Sight Words and Pete the Cat Purrfect Pairs Games: These games will be an interactive and engaging way for students to practice their sight words, beginning blends and digraphs, and word families. 4). Practice Makes Perfect books (for Grammar Usage & Mechanics and Reading Comprehension): These books will be used to provide students with meaningful, independent work for in class and at home assignments. 5). Targeting Grammar books: These books will be used as a useful re-teaching tool to review parts of speech such as nouns, adjectives, pronouns, verbs, and adverbs - as well as the structure of sentences. The book also provides opportunities for cooperative games for a bit of fun, task cards for extra practice, and word banks to save myself some time! Many of these resources encourage cooperative learning. Cooperative learning is particularly beneficial for any student learning a second language. These activities promote peer interaction; which helps the development of language, vocabulary acquisition, and the learning of concepts and content. ELL's learn to express themselves with greater confidence when working in cooperative pairs/teams.
