My classroom is a standard computer lab with 40 computers and chairs. I experimented last year with three standing desk spots for students who wanted to stand or needed an alternative seating option to be more successful in the classroom. I have found that my students are more focused, engaged, and attentive when allowed the option to sit or stand while working on their computers. I want to provide more flexible seating options for my high school students to help them to succeed in my class. I believe that the skills students learn in my Digital Literacy class are crucial to their success throughout high school and prepare them for college and careers. This project will allow me to add two more standing desk options for a total of five in my classroom as well as provide stools to give students breaks after they have been standing for a while.
