These books will be used to help fill out the fiction collection at our library. I believe that we need a variety of fiction books that kids will enjoy to foster a love of reading. Some of the books I have chosen are classics that children have enjoyed for years, and some of them are newer books that are hard to keep on library shelves. Graphic novels are particularly good to encourage struggling and beginning readers to challenge themselves. Reading is a critical skill that improves with practice. If students learn to love reading by reading books they enjoy, they are much more likely to continue seeking out more books to read on various subjects.
