The students that walk through my doors struggle with tying past events to current situations. Assessments have also shown that students struggle with reading and comprehending non-fictional texts. Students also struggle with remembering vocabulary terms and locations on a map. The magazines that I would like to use in my classroom are filled with non-fictional articles that tie into history. So, not only will it help develop the skills that I am teaching on a regular basis, but I would also be using a tool that is cross curricular for Reading and Science. Seeing current events in every day ways will help the students tie their learning to what is happening in the world around them. With the board games and dry erase boards, I plan on incorporating these into fun review games that students will play in small group stations. They will practice important vocabulary words and concepts using these fun board games as an interactive approach.
