Our trip will include stops at a few cemeteries to visit the graves of William Still, Thaddeus Stevens, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, John Brown and others. Some of these cemeteries allow visitors to make gravestone or headstone rubbings. This project seeks supplies to make grave rubbings on our trip: paper and cloth for lasting rubbings, a supply of crayons we will melt into crayon blocks (more suitable for rubbing large areas), molds to form the crayon blocks and masking tape to secure the rubbings as we work. Our hope is to trace our way through history as we explore the Underground Railroad in a hands-on format.
