We are using flexible seating in our classroom this year to keep students engaged in their learning. Studies have shown that students that are choosing where they sit and how they sit are more likely to stay engaged and on task during the lessons. Flexible seating will be inviting to learners in a way that allows them to take ownership of how they learn. My young learners are full of wiggles and allowing them to have more kinds of seating options gives them the flexibility to wiggle in a constructive manner. I have been able to implement a small amount of flexible seating this year and am excited to introduce even more options to get my students engaged in learning.
