There are students in my class who would benefit greatly from books and other resources that cater to bilingual education. It breaks my heart that I can't overcome the language barrier between me and my Spanish-speaking students. I can see their intelligence shine through, although I know that adequate materials would allow them to grow in more ways than I can imagine. Bilingual students are in dire need of materials that will help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The bilingual books on my list will allow my Spanish-speaking students to thrive. They can use them on projects, develop a love for reading, and make connections between their native language and the one they are beginning to acquire. The headphones and whisper phones will be used alongside tech resources we have in the classroom to develop their fluency and confidence. The bilingual workbooks, flashcards, and dictionaries will give me an opportunity to teach and connect with my English Learners and allow me to grow as a teacher as well. These resources will truly make a difference for not only the students I currently have, but for my future students who need reminding that their bilingual abilities are truly an asset to this world.
