My students' awareness of social justice issues may spark an interest in reading about these issues. Education is changing every single day and so are the interest of my students. My school media center doesn't have a large collection of books related to social justice, so I would like to have books that will hold their interests and keep them reading in my classroom. As I add additional books to my classroom library, my request is that these books be stored on a nice bookshelf. Students would have easy access to the bookshelf and the classroom library. Struggling readers will often pick up a book they are interested in and most students have a strong connection to social justice issues. Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is the perfect way to build better readers. My students will love getting their hands on this book.
