Utilizing visual and tactile manipulatives within the special education and Life Skills programs will provide my students with the opportunity to engage with the story content and experience the words on a page. The use of these visuals will aid in their story comprehension and ability to sequence a story. Hands on learning opportunities and the use of big books will additionally benefit students who are visually impaired while providing them with a way to access the curriculum in a unique, dynamic experience. My students are not traditional learners and these materials will tap into their strengths and provide them with an interactive learning experience.
