My students sit on 2 rugs in our classroom. They're both old and not so clean. One of them, a map of the world, is in really poor condition. The school provided us with the main rug where most of my instruction happens, but I don't even think about asking for the other one to be replaced, knowing that our budget is so limited. I feel that by sitting on a map of the US, my students will get more and more familiar with its geography! But it's actually a matter of hygiene. That rug they're sitting on right now is not where I'd want my own child to sit.
