We all remember the dread of opening to page blah-blah to read chapter yada-yada with our classmates in middle school. While some moments were full of wonder and awe, most were just glazed over moments of sheer boredom. This happens when teachers choose books that are not engaging to their students. I am asking for fifty books including Allegiant, The Tombs of Atuan and A Little Princess, as well as six boxed sets of series books including the Harry Potter series. With a wide variety of independent reading books, my seventh-graders will have a chance to choose their own destiny as a reader. Studies show that when adolescents are given freedom to choose their own books, interest and growth skyrocket. Join the fight against boring reading by supporting our project.
