As a newer math teacher I realized that my classroom is seriously lacking some basics to keep the students engaged. I teach a wide range of students from varying backgrounds, including many first generation who speak very little English. The ability to create visuals and have hands-on learning allows students from all backgrounds to get involved in their learning. The school supplies I have chosen allows students to have more variation in how they learn by giving them the chance to touch the math, from compasses to graphing boards to a printer that will allow me to make colored hand-outs to further enhance their education.
