My students have already read the first two titles in Kelly Yang's Front Desk Series ("Front Desk" and "Three Keys"). The series is based loosely on Yang's experience as a young Chinese immigrant in the United States, and focuses on many relevant issues such as racism, immigration, and poverty. My students loved both of these books and are already asking to read the third book in the series, "Room to Dream," when it is released in September. I love to choose books that they are truly interested in, as this is the way to foster a lifelong love or reading!
