Pictures can say a thousand words and I want my students to be able to capture those words and thoughts by using photography as their medium. By giving them access to digital cameras they will have the opportunity to learn how to use a camera and how to to take photos that have meaning and incorporate that meaning with poetry. Many of my students are English language learners and words do not come easily, but by integrating poetry and photography we will allow these students to create and express themselves using the pictures they take as a form of expression to help them expand their language and foster their creativity. I have seen how exposing children to various mediums can ignite their creativity and improve their overall success in school. By helping them gain access to digital cameras you are helping them learn a new way to create and express themselves through the art of photography.
