I teach in a very diverse community, and all students in my school, from grades K-5, come to my classroom for music each week. I must make sure all my lessons are able to be adapted for all levels of learning abilities. In addition, I teach beginner band and elementary choir. We have some hand percussion and Orffbinstruments, but many are missing pieces or are in disrepair. For all of my classes, I use the electric piano I have in the classroom. Unfortunately, it too is in bad shape. There are broken keys, a broken pedal, the veneer is chipping, and the stand is unstable. For concerts, I have to borrow a keyboard from outside the school because ours is not suitable for performance.
