Each week I go into our K-3 classrooms to teach social skills and other topics. I would like to make sure my resources are culturally diverse so that students can be exposed to a wide variety of cultures and perspectives. These books will be used in conjunction with my SEL curriculum. This project aims to benefit all students, but in particular students in grades K-3 by exposing them to examples of similar and different cultures. I am looking to update my social-emotional learning library with books that have more diverse characters and themes as well as including some new books that can support my student as we move back from remote learning. SEL is an important part of emotional development and an understanding of different views and cultures helps students develop empathy. These books will also help in the event that we need to go remote again. I will be able to read them in person or online.
