Some form of clicker technology has been used in schools from Kindergarten through college for a few decades. A clicker can be used for formative assessments (checking for understanding), such as quizzes, test review, daily objective, etc. Clickers can also be used to guide instruction or promote classroom discussion. Besides being a fun devise the kids can use in class to be more engaged, a clicker is so useful because it also allows for immediate feedback, which will directly guide instruction. Knowing right away if certain concepts were understood, or whether or not an element needs to be re-taught, is vital for planning. They also increase the potential for the student-led/student-taught dynamic.
