In my experience, many students abandon books far too quickly. They don't develop a love for reading because they don't experience the joy of getting lost in a book and the mix of emotions you can feel when finishing a book. I want them to experience this! I want to ignite a love of reading which will help my students be more successful now, as well as in the future! This comes from explicit teaching of how to tackle complex texts. We will be doing this work together with read alouds, and then hopefully, with your help, they will get to practice independently in book clubs with their peers! These book sets will help my fully implement book clubs in my class!
