Materials are needed to help students become more self-sufficient and knowledgeable about healthy eating. These materials will help students be able to fully participate in our school cooking club. Through this club students learn healthy recipes, as well as cooking basics. We meet after school to provide students with the skills to go home and cook their families a healthy snack. In the Stinger Kitchen, third-fifth grade students execute healthy, kid-friendly recipes. Along with learning how to prepare healthy snacks, students become familiar with preparing and following multi-step directions. The final products, shopping list of ingredients, and full recipe will be shared in an online, collaborative Google Classroom. The ultimate goal is to ensure students at our school have an understanding of the wellness policy, healthy eating, basic cooking, food preparation, and writing all while in the setting of the Stinger Kitchen.
