I want to make sure there is a good, old-fashioned blue recycling bin present in every classroom, workroom, and office at our school. Instead of only a couple of teachers making the extra effort, I hope the presence of these bins will initiate a school-wide culture shift in how we handle paper waste. It's no secret that we go through an insurmountable load of paper and cardboard every week. As teachers and administrators, it's our job to model the responsible way to handle the paper waste. Additionally, we all want to take care of ourselves and our students for the future, and caring for our planet is a part of that. My hope is that recycling paper will become a school-wide norm that all of our students advocate for. My Recycling Club students will take care of all the paper each week; all everyone else has to do is just use the recycling bin. Those little blue bins make a difference! Many students care about recycling; they just simply haven't been exposed to it as a normal practice. Please help our school "green up" and make paper recycling a best practice!
