Each week my fourth graders read a variety of different non-fiction texts during our reading block, that we also incorporate into the math, science, and social studies curriculum. Because Time for Kids covers a wide variety of topics across our daily curriculum, my students would benefit greatly from having another source in which to pull information. There is an excitement in my classroom when my students are given new topics and subjects to read about and explore. Their vocabulary is increasing and the knowledge base is being broadened daily. They are learning how to apply different reading strategies to a wide variety of information into their daily learning.
