My students are scholars who have good work ethics along with the desire to learn and better themselves. These students come from low income families along with broken homes. In addition, their parents work two or three jobs to sustain the family and provide for their needs. Most students have difficulties at home, along with overcoming language barriers. It is for this reason, that building a safe, positive, and engaging classroom this can continue spark a light in the students and that is the gift of learning. What a better way to motivate these students with the common language we all love: Music. As their teacher, I am a firm believer that these students deserve the opportunity to be exposed to good music along with a unmemorable and life changing musical-experience.
