All children can learn, they just need the proper motivation to do so. For some students this means hearing music or other forms of background noise, for others it means silence. For some students this means hearing the lesson, for others it may mean seeing or touching the content. It is my goal and responsibility to make sure that all students are provided multiple opportunities to learn in a way that benefits them throughout the school day. The addition of book bins, wiggle cushions, floor pillows, bean bags, and stools to our classroom would allow students multiple options to choose the way of learning that best fits their needs. During our guided reading, wiggle seats would provide students with an option of "getting their wiggles out" while still staying on task and involved in the lesson. Floor cushions and stools would also be great additions to our reading rotations as they offer students the option to find a quiet place to read or complete their independent assignments. The timer will help students quickly see how much time is remaining at each center. These flexible seating options along with the book bins will help transform our classroom as a whole. They would not only be helpful for small group instruction, but also for students who struggle to maintain focus during instructional times throughout the day.
