In this project, I'm requesting social studies materials, including a Social Studies Literature Library. These materials will enhance my students' learning about the United States history. Each item will build on their study of governments, Western Expansion, The Civil War, Revolutionary War, the Colonies, and exploration. The Libraries will help them to explore non-fiction text with true stories that students can relate to. Not only will these materials help students to understand social studies better, but they will also be reading and comprehending at the same time, which will raise their ability to read successfully. I believe these materials will help to enrich their learning for the best and help them to relate to real world experiences. These resources will help them to visualize and understand what happened in our history with hands on learning and real life stories or experiences. They will help my students to compare and contrast their lives against the lives of the people who explored and created the world they live in now. As an IB (International Baccalaureate) school, students are constantly asking questions to better understand the world around them. We encourage students to think "outside the box" and explore how their world relates to those around them or in other parts of the world. Allowing them to have access to materials that explore their deepest questions will excite their learning and bring their understanding to a whole new level.
