100% of the students who participate on the cross country team qualify for free and reduced lunch, and for many of them the only meals they eat are when they are in school. Additionally, many members of the team would be considered disengaged due to attendance, behavior, or grades. We compete in one of the most competitive leagues in the state and are at the bottom socio-economically. That said, we have athletes who work extremely hard and are driven to be the best they can be. This year, our goal is to win our division for the first time in decades. In order to do that, our athletes will need to stay hydrated throughout the day, eat the right snacks to recover from workouts, and learn to pace themselves in order to train correctly and get faster throughout the season. It is the little things that make the biggest difference. These materials will help our athletes take care of the little things like hydration, recovery, and pacing as they embark on their journey over the coming months.
