Many of my students either play a sport or enjoy watching sports on TV at home or attend a live game. My students admire many sports players and are ecstatic to read more about their lives and discover that they may have things in common with the players. My classroom library is seriously lacking in fiction and non-fiction books that reflect the interests and literary needs of my students. The addition of sports related literature and biographies about their favorite players will continue to feed their sports loving soul as well as nurture their love of reading. My students love to read books that not only speak to their heart but also have memorable characters who live just like they do.
