As a teacher where students primarily choose books from their English Classroom, having books that are accessible to students and that they want to read is essential to building reading habits and helping them become lifelong readers! While I brought a good deal of books from my own collection, as a first year teacher I want to build the best library I can right off the bat! These books were selected based on feedback from my students, observations on popular series, and a few select paired books to build reading partnerships. My students will read these books every day during our 20 minutes of daily independent reading time. Especially for students who don't like reading, having books they want to read makes all the difference in getting a book in their hands.
