Having a class subscription for Junior Scholastic would be very helpful in my global studies classroom. While we are already regularly engaged in watching current event news clips in class, it is important for students to be able to read material on their grade level to help strengthen critical thinking and improve reading. By spending time each week in class reading about current events, students will not only get a better grasp on important global issues, they will also be regularly practicing their reading. For those of my students whose first language is Spanish, this is a great way to continue to develop their English language skills.
