Every student will receive a binder (if this project is funded) that stays in the math classroom. The binder will include a Table of Contents for every unit we do, with the organization of the binder being graded. Besides being the place to house all their math materials, the students will be able to learn valuable organizational skills that will prepare them for high school. We cannot ask the students to bring their own binder as a Title I school. However, we also do not have the funds for every student to receive a binder. Our students should not have to worry about whether they can get the materials they need for school. With many other financial worries on many of their minds, I want to be able to supply everything each child needs in the classroom. Math is a foundational subject in the modern world. Without the materials, I will not be able to fully do my job in providing an equitable education to my kids. They deserve everything that their 8th-grade counterparts receive in school and I want to be able to provide it for them. Many of the students come from trauma and hardship in their lives, so being able to take a minor worry about school supplies off their plates would be a step in the right direction.
