My students are eager to learn but find it difficult some days because math is taught in Chinese. Math manipulatives are helpful for students to learn math, not just in Chinese but also in English. A door bell will be helpful in the classroom because students sometimes tune out what I am saying in Chinese. It will help to get their attention quickly. By using these math manipulatives, my students will be able to learn kinetically while listening in Chinese. Learning kinetically is so important with first graders. They need to be able to play and manipulate objects in order for them to truly understand mathematical concepts.
