My high school students are refugees and immigrants from all over the world. They have life experiences that some of us could never imagine. They arrive in America filled with dreams and ambitions and they arrive filled with sadness and trauma in the loss of what is familiar. At first they are unable to communicate with each other, nor understand what is spoken around them. Yet, every day they arrive at school with a heart to learn English and with a rich background to share. I am part of an amazing team of teachers who seeks to make content comprehensible to these teens, to help them have a voice that will be understood in America and to teach them foundational skills that will support a successful future. Your support of our projects is an investment in the success of individuals, families and communities...and most importantly the future of our great nation.
