My students are very young and have a variety of disabilities. They learn best when they are engaged in a multi-sensory way. The materials I have chosen will allow them to explore and learn in an open-ended way. We take approximately two-three "sensory" breaks a day. With these items, we could continue the learning, even when we're taking a break from more structured/rigorous learning. I have chosen materials that will give them that sensory soothing they need, while still actively engaging their minds. I've chosen a lot of literacy and math materials that require hands on manipulation, to really get them involved.
