Flexible seating allows for students to take charge in their learning and make the choices that are in their best interest for staying focused and doing their best. If my project is funded, I will add these wobble cushions, wiggle stools and fidget bands to my collection of flexible seating options- a high table for standing, low table with cushions, pillows, reading pillows, beanbags, saucer chairs, crate seats, clip boards and lap desks for floor sitting. The items I have requested are unique because they give the students the opportunity to move while still being a part of the dialogue at their table or during whole group activities. At a first grade level wiggle stools, wobble cushions and fidget bands are a vital resource providing options for kids who have difficulty focusing because they need to move. Adding these flexible seating options makes for a classroom that is inviting to all types of learning styles and needs. I have seen how giving students a choice can positively affect their work and demeanor in my classroom and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
