In our classroom, we do a lot of "carpet time." Sadly, we have two very worn rugs that serve as our "carpet." This is where we do most of our learning. Sometimes as a "family" (both grade levels) and other times as separate grade levels. Our rugs are dirty and ruined. The rugs are also so small that my students are squished together on them because they do not want to sit on the tile floor. It would be absolutely amazing if we had a carpet that could seat ALL of us. It would also be wonderful if each child had a spot that was specifically for him or her. A place that they know is theirs. Part of our morning meeting time on the carpet, we read a class pledge. In this class pledge, we emphasize that we are a family. We learn together and work together. Help me provide a place where we can come together as a family to share, learn, and celebrate with one another.
