This year my students are inspiring. I see future innovators, web designers, artists, and mathematicians. My students not only communicate their ideas with their verbal skills but actually communicate with their bodies. They express their ideas with their body language. One of my students actually shows his dance moves while sharing an idea. It was awsome to see! Because of this I want my students to thrive in an environment that will give them the freedom to think out of the box. I truly believe flexible seating will help accomplish this goal. I do a lot of on the floor activities in all my subjects. There is not a day that goes by that my students and I are not on the floor collabrating and discussing ideas whether in Math, Science, or Language Arts. So in a way my class practices flexible seating without the seating. I've done that more this year than with any other class that I have taught. As a result, my students have demonstrated to me how responsible they are in this unique environment. The best gift would be to allow them the opportunity to experience flexible seating in my classroom. For example, the bedrests are an easy thing to add to any reading area or around the classroom to lay against while working. They’re really comfy and I use them myself sometimes! The rug will be utilize to an area of the room where students will have the opportunity to sit on the floor and listen to my direct teacher. The high top table will be be used for any student who wishes to stand.
