We need a class set of copies of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. We will start our year reading Harry Potter (coupled with related writing, art, and science) to inspire students to love reading. Through the lens of Harry Potter, my students will study moral questions, art, science, reading, writing, and the broader world around us. Harry Potter is engaging and exciting for kids. It poses important questions about the world, and my goal is to foster a love of reading in my classroom. At the beginning of the year, I will conduct a six week Harry Potter unit for my students. Together, we will read the book and participate in various curriculum based activities to ensure comprehension of the text and mastery of selected Common Core standards. Please help fund my project so each student can have their very own copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to start our year off magically.
