Ukuleles would give Junior high and intermediate students an opportunities to play and create on their own quality instruments. Ukulele only has four strings so it is easier than playing a guitar. Since it is small, it is easier for the students to push down the strings to sound out chords. Students can learn to read music and accompany their singing, contributing to well-rounded musicianship. Playing sweet sounding chords on a ukulele can change the way a student approaches reading and performing music throughout their lives. Ukulele playing will energize and excite my students to learn more about music. This project will teach my students that playing an instrument can have a beneficial impact on their lives.
