Teaching in an urban environment has many great advantages, however one of the disadvantages is the socio-economic level of many of my scholars families. School supplies often take a back seat to many other financial necessities. Readily having basic school supplies in the classroom eliminates some of the stress placed on families as well as preventing student embarrassment for not having said supplies. Supplies such as the laminator, preserves resources used around the classroom on a daily basis; allowing all students to quick access that they readily need on a daily basis; including steps to a 5 paragraph essay, character traits, and theme. As an ICT-ELA special education teacher, I believe in allowing my students different opportunities to showcase what they have learned. Art is one of the many realms in which students can showcase their knowledge. Art supplies such as markers, colored pencils, and glue sticks present students with the tools to be as expressive as possible. Additionally, one of the keys to success as an educator is organization. Crates provide organization, access, and portability, within a shared classroom setting. Any donations provided will be welcome into the classroom, giving my scholars the opportunity to focus wholly on their academic success. We thank you in advance.
