The materials I'm requesting will help start my students' day off right! It's important for first graders to still engage in play, but play with a purpose. These materials will help them work on problem solving skills, will allow them to express their creativity, encourage them to use their imagination, and promote positive social interaction between their peers. Instead of starting the morning with a boring worksheet or an app on the iPad, these morning tubs will allow the kids to interact. I am confident that morning tubs will help make my students eager to start the day in a fun way! Through building with Legos, Magnet Building Tiles, Tinkertoys, and Goobi magnet pieces the kids will have a chance to create and design. I plan on having several exploration tubs as well. The magnifying glasses will help students get up close and personal with many items. This will help them make observations and pay attention to details. I hope to incorporate word work and writing in some tubs as well with the phonics cubes, story starter cubes, and silly sentence games. Fine motor skills will be improved through the lace cards and other fun activities that will feel like play instead of work! Through it all students will be working together and building a sense of community in our classroom!
