My district doesn't have the funds necessary to be able to purchase texts of any kind. We do not have enough copies of the books for each student for our new reading units. The new books will expose students to different genres throughout the year. These new books will excite and engage my students to hopefully ignite their love of reading. We are 1:1 computers so the energy and money has been spent there over the years. While I feel preparing students to use technology is important for success, I also feel like there needs to be a balance. We need authentic books to have students hold, read, and learn from.
