Our school has a new Hip-Hop Literacy course. WE need books! "Can't Stop Won't Stop" is the definitive text concerning the history and cultural/societal importance of hip-hop. The Fire Next Time is a collection of essays written by James Baldwin. In donating to this project, you will be providing each of my students with a text that will not only captivate their attention and provide a more accurate portrayal of their culture but also inspire them with various discussion and writing concepts. Students will be able to simply focus on a text that is important to them, as well as important and relevant in today's society. These texts will help inspire my students to write and think more critically by introducing them to a more in-depth and captivating history of hip-hop and culture.
